What to Read

What to Read Addiction - Freedom From Addiction

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, it's best to remember that you - or them - are not alone. There's a lot to understand, a lot to learn and a lot to deal with, emotionally, physically, mentally. Sometimes, the best way to handle the process is by educating yourself. And the best way to do that is to research. Grab a book and get reading. Finding facts, reading the stories of others who have been through the same thing and understanding will ease the process. Here are a list of books about addiction that you may want to invest in to see you through the journey.

Opiate Addiction - The Painkiller Addiction Epidemic, Heroin Addiction and the Way Out, by Taite Adams

Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction, by David Sheff

The Recovery Formula: An Addict's Guide to getting Clean & Sober Forever, by Beth Burgess

Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines, by Nic Sheff

Happy Ending, by David Rat

Only the Devil Tells the Truth, by Jake D. Parent

Blackout: Remembering the Things I Drank to Forget, by Sarah Hepola

The Joey Song: A Mother's Story of Her Son's Addiction, by Sandy Swenson

The Happy Addict: How to be Happy in Recovery from Alcoholism or Drug Addiction, by Beth Burgess

Why Don't They Just Quit?: What Families and Friends Need to Know about Addiction and Recovery, by Joe Herzanek

Facing the Dragon: How a Desperate Act Pulled One Addict Out of Methamphetamine Hell, by David Parnell

We All Fall Down: Living with Addiction, by Nic Sheff
