Heather Locklear has checked into a treatment facility following the arrest last month at her home. She was arrested for one count felony domestic violence and three counts misdemeanor battery on a police officer.
A friend of the Melrose Place alum told People Magazine that she “is seeking help for battle with addiction. Everyone hopes that she gets well, that she gets better.”
“Addiction is obviously a strong disease, and as much as friends and family who love her and want her to get better, no one can do the work for her.”
The friend added, “hopefully she is getting the help she needs”. As reported in an earlier post, Locklear, 56, has struggled with substance abuse and prescription drug addiction in the past. She has also been to several treatment centers in an effort to live a life in long-term recovery.
According to a source for ET News, Locklear’s 20-year-old daughter, Ava, has been asking her mom to go back to treatment for a period of time. “Ava begged her mom to go to rehab. After Heather finally agreed, Ava went away with her father to get a break from it all”.
“She wants her mom to get clean and sober once and for all.”
Watching a parent suffer with substance abuse addiction can be extremely hard on the child. It is not something anyone wishes for any family member to go through. Unfortunately, this has been a pattern of repeated behavior for the celebrity actress.
This will be the sixth time that Heather Locklear has entered a rehab treatment facility for help with her substance abuse addiction. She previously went to a facility in Arizona and issued a statement saying, “I am feeling great and am taking steps to enrich and better my life. Currently, I am working on tying up some loose ends regarding certain issues so I can hit 2017 full steam ahead.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the actress as she continues to battle her struggle with addiction.
