Heather Locklear has been arrested for felony domestic violence and battery on a cop. Police were called to the actress home in Thousand Oaks, CA. Sunday night to break up a fight between her and her boyfriend.
The 56-year-old actress has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse for years. She had previously gone to drug rehab treatment programs several times, and also was hospitalized for allegedly combining a toxic mix of prescription drugs and alcohol in 2012.
Although the actress has had more than a 30-year successful acting career in Hollywood, she is not immune to the pressures that everyone in life can face and unfortunately has not been able to maintain long-term sobriety.
Heather Locklear’s struggles with alcohol and drugs have been an issue for the actress for the last 10 years. For those who work in the substance abuse and treatment industry, this will come as no surprise. Medical experts in the field of substance abuse will ascertain that addiction is a disease and can be fatal if not treated appropriately.
According to Dr. Judy Rosenberg, CEO of Psychological HealingCenter.com – who has not treated the actress – Locklear’s history of drug use and abuse “puts her at risk of overdosing, or committing suicide by overdose”.
According to People “She has to be ready to fix it herself.” the insider said. “She knows help is available, and she has sought it out before, but you can’t force anybody to get help. “ The source added that, “it’s heartbreaking”.
The actress has been to rehab treatment 5 times in the past 9 years and family and friends are hoping that she considers going back once again and that she has a more long-lasting successful outcome. Unfortunately, substance abuse can often be fatal, and many are hopeful that the former Melrose Place star will be able to get the help she needs before it’s too late.
