How To Choose Good Vs Bad Rehab

Good Vs Bad Rehab - Freedom From Addiction

In life, as with anything else, you look for quality. You don’t settle for the first shirt you see, even though it has a hole in it. No, you go to the rack and find a shirt in excellent condition with no holes or stains or other signs of wear. If we take this kind of approach to clothing, it should be applied to all areas of your life. Even when choosing a rehab facility that is right for you, because not all rehabs are created equal.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Is it accredited? One of the most important things you can do is to make sure that it is accredited. Being accredited means that particular facility has been officially qualified to perform the tasks required for addiction recovery. Accreditation means they have met whatever standards the state and federal government has laid out. This could mean that the doctors on staff had a certain amount of years of training before working there or they have met certain quality standards in the services that they offer.

Do they cater to your specific needs? If you have a dual-diagnosis, as most persons in recovery do, will that be part of your rehab program? Do they offer a wide variety of programs? If you have social anxiety, perhaps group therapy being part of your program isn’t a good idea, but one-on-one therapy would be.

Finally, ask about their success rate and see if there is online documentation to back it up from credible sources and testimonials that aren’t on their website. At the end of the day, while they are there to help you, the facility is still a business.

WARNING SIGNS

There are warning signs to look out for when questioning a rehab facility. Non-accreditation is a big one. Not being allowed to see your family or have family participation is another warning sign. Perhaps they want deniability and don’t want “outsiders” to see the facility.

Not offering tours of the facility is another big one. You should be able to see what is offered and where you will be staying. You wouldn’t rent an apartment sight unseen, don’t agree to a rehab facility sight unseen either.

WHAT’S NEXT?

If you feel you need help with this, contact us and we can put you in touch with accredited facilities and help you ask all the questions you need to to have a successful recovery process from a qualified facility.

Connecting with the right treatment solution to achieve recovery is essential in this process. A free service like Freedom From Addiction can be of help to explore the different treatment options available. For 24/7 assistance, call our toll-free hotline at 1.855.RECOVER or 1.855.732.6837.
